School Counseling Services Implementation Video – Mental Health Services
The School Counseling Services Program design, development, and implementation initially occurred during the 2005-2006 academic year. The program was successfully implemented for 14 years, when in 2018 the program was fully transitioned to the district for it’s own facilitation purposes. SCP is one of the few onsite school counseling programs that includes multi-year, multi-site, multi-administration, multi-provider evaluations. The program summary follows.
Services were initially developed and provided in Gadsden County—West Gadsden High School (program #1) and duplicated in Taylor County—Steinhatchee (Program #2). Program #1 and Program #2 were developed using a standardized program guideline, the counseling services program proposal and protocol, used as a baseline document for all school counseling program implementations in districts who wish to contract with LaRose. In 2012, the school counseling program added to its service delivery model a “digital platform overlay.” In 2015, the program expanded to include non-mental health services, adding drop out prevention services.
Onsite counseling services have been developed and implemented by LaRose in alternative settings, not only in schools. For other implementation services summaries, evaluation information, and rural mental health models, you are encouraged to take a look here.
With the onsite school counseling program, assessment, evaluation and analysis of the onsite programs have been completed, with findings that support the use of the counseling services program in these and other academic settings. Efficacy, or program success, has been realized in 80-90% of all areas assessed for program year one in both districts; efficacy has varied in the subsequent years with overall program success indicated; most above 70%. Program success, even with results that are classified as “varied” (less than an 80-90%efficacy rate), is realized in multiple year evaluations, between two different school districts (with various demographics), and with different ages of youth served—and even with the use of two different onsite providers. The program has been a model and a consultation source with programs developed in the Bahamas and in Africa (see the LaRose bio/resume/vitae for details in this regard).

Two North Florida School Districts approved the school counseling services program since its implementation in 2005. Program outcomes are favorable in different districts, using different onsite providers, and under different administrations. The program is available for implementation and/or consultation and/or full service delivery to other districts who desire similar services (contact LaRose via email to schedule a consultation). In 2015 the program added non-mental health related services, with the implementation of Drop Out Prevention Programs and Rational Problem Solving strategies.
