The practice of LaRose has over the course of many years accepted third party payors and EAP contracts to cover services for clients. The volatility, inconsistencies in payor protocols, compliance complexities, coverage changes, cost share changes (patient copays and deductibles), non-covered services variability, ‘ghost claims’, delays of payments, prohibition to services that are needed and/or requested by clients, and the number of hours involved in managing the non-standardized third party payor system, including reductions in payments for mental health services collectively make the acceptance of such policies no longer feasible. Treating clients doesn’t have to be so complicated!
Until or unless the insurance business model standardizes, applies universal coverages and fee structures, and moves to central electronic claims receipts/processing/payments mechanism, and until the industry evolves to cover non-traditional services (ie: positive, affirmative, and healthy psychological interventions, controversial methods like clinical hypnosis, and digital services like online therapy models, with coverage equality between mental health providers and MD’s) the practice of LaRose has elected to remove these barriers to care—by moving to all self pay services.
